CB Antenna Tip Care

Missing antenna tips is a situation where the cause isn’t exactly transparent. Tips do not “fly off” a vehicle as they are specifically designed to avoid that. Rather if one is missing it was most likely taken by someone or it bumped into another structure removing it. Either way, here are some tips to ensure you don’t lose your antenna tip and how to remove it properly!  

To prevent the tip from being removed, after tuning the antenna you can spray the antenna with some hair spray and stick the tip on shortly after. That or you could apply a silicon based adhesive near the bottom edge of the antenna where the tip sits.  

When you want to remove the tip, don’t twist it off! This will alter the wiring and affect the rods inside. This can break the connection between the glass fiber rods and the brass extender. To properly remove an antenna tip, break the seal at the bottom using your finger nails and gently pull up. It could also be helpful to have a clamp to gently pull the tip up and out. Just ensure you don’t twist it.
