Happy 60th Birthday Citizens Band!

Just over 60 years ago, on September 11^th, 1958, the 27Mhz CB service was created.  Commonly called the “Citizens Band,” there were only 23 channels at the time.  22 of those were from the former amateur radio service (11-meter band).   The last band, channel 23, was the shared channel for all radio-controlled devices.

The CB radio has come a long way over the last 60 years.  Whether you have a classic CB radio base station based down through the generations, are part of the current CB radio culture as a hobby or a truck driver who still utilizes the “Citizen Band” on the road, thank you for keeping this American tradition alive.
