Happy 60th Birthday Citizens Band!
Just over 60 years ago, on September 11th, 1958, the 27Mhz CB service was created. Commonly called the “Citizens Band,” there were only 23 channels at the time. 22 of those were from the former amateur radio service (11-meter band). The last band, channel 23, was the shared channel for all radio-controlled devices.
The CB radio has come a long way over the last 60 years. Whether you have a classic CB radio base station based down through the generations, are part of the current CB radio culture as a hobby or a truck driver who still utilizes the “Citizen Band” on the road, thank you for keeping this American tradition alive.
