Frequently asked questions
Does the Uniden PRO501HH include batteries?
No. Portable operation requires nine AA alkaline or nine AA NiMH rechargeable batteries, purchased separately.
Does the PRO501HH include a magnetic vehicle antenna?
No. The standalone PRO501HH includes the flexible portable antenna; the magnetic-mount vehicle antenna is included with the PRO501TK package instead.
Can I power the PRO501HH from my vehicle?
Yes. Use the included DC cable with a compatible cigarette-lighter/DC power socket. The specified input is 13.8V DC nominal, with an operating input of 10.9–15.6V DC.
Can it recharge batteries?
The radio supports charging compatible NiMH rechargeable batteries using its charging connection and charge adapter. Never attempt to recharge disposable alkaline batteries.
Does the PRO501HH have FM CB or SSB?
No. It operates on the 40 AM CB channels; weather reception is separate from CB transmit mode.
How is Dual Watch different from the 9/19 button?
Dual Watch monitors two channels you select. The instant 9/19 function is a separate shortcut to channels 9 and 19, not a restriction on your Dual Watch choices.
Does it receive NOAA weather broadcasts?
Yes. Its ten weather-channel selections include the seven NOAA frequencies. Use CB/WX to enter weather mode and the up/down controls to choose a weather channel.
Can the PRO501HH scan CB channels?
Yes. Channel Scan checks the CB channels and stops when it receives a transmission. This is separate from Dual Watch, which monitors only the two channels you have selected.
