Straight-from-the-factory CB radios usually come de-tuned to keep the manufacturer inside FCC 4-watt limits. That leaves a lot of transmit power, audio clarity, and receive sensitivity on the table. The bench peak-and-tune brings the radio up to its full legal potential.

- Transmit peak on all 40 channels — final amplifier trimmed to deliver the maximum legal output the radio's circuitry can produce (typically 4-5 watts AM carrier from a stock 3-watt radio).
- Modulation adjustment — audio drive and mic gain calibrated so the radio hits clean 90-100% modulation without distortion or splatter.
- Receive alignment — front-end and IF stages peaked for maximum sensitivity so you hear weaker signals cleaner.

Is this service legal?
Yes. Peaking and tuning brings a CB radio to its optimal factory performance within FCC Part 95 output limits. It does not add frequencies, defeat channel selection, or exceed the legal 4-watt AM / 12-watt SSB power caps. This is exactly what a service technician would do to bring a de-tuned radio back into spec.
Does this void my warranty?
No. The alignment is done with the manufacturer's own trim pots and alignment coils — no soldering, no aftermarket components, no case modification. Your factory warranty stays intact.
Can I add this to a radio I already own?

How much extra range will I actually get?
Typically 15-30% more usable range mobile-to-mobile, assuming your antenna is also tuned correctly. Some radios see more, some less — it depends on how far out of spec the factory left it and how good your antenna install is.
How long does the service take?
The tune itself is 30-45 minutes on the bench. Total order impact is usually 1-2 additional business days before your order ships.
Do I need this if I only run 4 watts?
Yes — this is what makes sure your radio actually delivers 4 watts instead of 2 or 3. Every stock CB is legally capped at 4W AM output, but most ship de-tuned below that ceiling. The peak-and-tune brings you to the full legal output.
Does this work with SSB radios?
Yes. SSB radios benefit even more because the alignment tightens both AM and SSB modes. Your 12-watt SSB output will be squarely at the legal cap and cleanly modulated.
Will this help my antenna?
