Install & SWR
SWR must be verified and adjusted at the antenna after installation — we do not verify SWR on radios shipped separately from an antenna install. The SR-A10 is a tunable-tip whip: after mounting, key the radio into a good SWR meter and adjust the tip until SWR is 1.5:1 or better across your working portion of the band. High SWR into 400W+ of stock output (or 600W+ tuned) can damage the finals — take the time to tune the antenna properly. Full instructions come with the SR-A10.
License requirement
The Longhorn Superior N6 operates on the 10 meter amateur (ham) radio band and requires an FCC amateur radio license to transmit. Technician class covers 10m FM voice; General or Amateur Extra required for full SSB and CW privileges. See our 10 meter radio licensing page for details.

Will this combo fit my truck / pickup / SUV?
The DRX-3402 is a heavy-duty mirror mount designed for west-coast truck mirrors and heavy-duty pickup mirror brackets. It will fit most Class-8 trucks, most heavy-duty 3/4-ton and 1-ton pickups with mirror brackets, and many 4x4 rigs with aftermarket mirror arms. It is not designed for compact cars or small SUVs without mirror-mount hardware. If you're unsure about your specific vehicle, contact us before ordering.
Is 18 feet of coax enough for my install?
Yes, in almost all Class-8 truck and heavy-duty pickup installs. Routing from a west-coast mirror mount, down the door pillar, under the dash, and to the radio typically uses 12-14 feet — 18 feet gives you comfortable slack for service loops and future radio relocation. If you have an unusually long run (a sleeper cab with the radio in the bunk, for instance), contact us about longer coax options.
Do I need an SWR meter or will the radio's built-in meter work?
The Longhorn's built-in SWR meter is functional and adequate for basic antenna tuning. For a precise professional tune, an external cross-needle SWR/power meter is more accurate — the built-in meter is a "good enough" reading, not a lab-grade instrument. Either way, SWR must be tuned at the antenna tip after install, and the Longhorn's built-in meter is more than sufficient to get you close.
Do I need the Pro Tune option?
For this combo specifically, yes — strongly recommended. You're buying a $1,100+ install to get the Longhorn's full high-power performance on a real antenna. Stock output is 400W+ PEP; peaked is 600W+ PEP. The antenna, mount, and coax in this combo are all rated for the peaked output, so the tune is where the ceiling of the whole system lives. What warranty covers each piece?

Can I add an external speaker and upgraded mic to this order?
Yes — add the DRX-9010 premium external speaker and DRX-6560 4-pin dynamic mic as separate line items. If you want the audio upgrades bundled at a slight discount, look at the Longhorn + speaker + mic combo — but that combo does not include the antenna, mount, and coax, so it's an either/or choice.
