Cobra 29 LX CB Radio, Hustler IC56 102 Inch Whip, Antenna Mirror Mount, Barrel Spring, Coax Cable, Bundle
Cobra 29 LX AM/FM CB Radio + Hustler IC56 102″ Whip Antenna + DRX-3402 Heavy-Duty Mirror Mount + Barrel Spring + DRX-1518 M213 Premium Coax Bundle
The classic full-size CB install: a real 102-inch stainless steel whip on a heavy-duty mirror mount with a proper spring and premium coax. This bundle pairs the Cobra 29 LX AM/FM CB radio with the Hustler IC56 102″ stainless steel whip antenna, the DRX-3402 Magnum heavy-duty mirror mount, a Workman KA52 super heavy-duty chrome barrel spring, and 18 feet of DRX-1518 M213 premium coax. Everything you need to run the reference-standard CB antenna on an over-the-road truck or pickup.
What's in the bundle
- Cobra 29 LX AM/FM CB radio — 40-channel dual-mode AM/FM, 4-color LCD, 10-channel NOAA weather receiver with alert tone, instant channel 9/19, Radio Check self-test, built-in SWR meter, PA capability
- Hustler IC56 102″ stainless steel whip antenna — full-size ¼-wave whip on 27 MHz, no loading coil, high-power rated, standard 3/8″-24 threaded base
- DRX-3402 Magnum mirror mount — extra-large 2.50″-wide mount, .250″-thick aircraft-quality extruded aluminum, Square-Lock stainless carriage bolts, stainless K-Lock nuts, proprietary DX239 heavy-duty stud
- Workman KA52 super heavy-duty barrel spring — chrome-plated barrel spring rated for 102″ whips, absorbs flex stress so the mount and whip base don't take the load
- DRX-1518 18-foot M213 premium coax — 50 Ω, double-shielded, preterminated PL-259 connectors
- Cobra 29 LX accessories: factory dynamic 4-pin microphone, DC power cord, under-dash mounting bracket, mic clip, owner's manual
Why this combo
A 102″ stainless whip is still the reference standard for CB antennas — full quarter-wave length on 27 MHz, no loading coil, excellent broadband SWR when properly mounted and grounded. The Magnum mirror mount and Workman heavy-duty barrel spring are built to hold that much whip on a moving vehicle without cracking mirrors, tearing brackets, or breaking the whip base. Add the M213 coax and you have a complete install kit that only needs a chassis ground and a power connection to be on the air. You save roughly 5% versus buying the five components separately. Don't forget to add the Pro tune and alignment option at checkout so that your radio is professionally bench-tuned for best performance per the manufacturer's service manual.
Who this bundle is for
- Over-the-road truck drivers who want the traditional CB antenna every trucker has run for the last 60 years — the 102″ stainless whip
- Pickup and 4x4 owners with a mirror bracket or bed-rail bracket that can hold a full-size whip
- Buyers who want the strongest possible receive — a full quarter-wave whip with no loading coil recovers weak signals better than any loaded antenna at the same install height
- Installers who value ease of tuning — a properly grounded 102″ whip typically shows low SWR across all 40 channels without adjustment
Install notes
- 102″ whips are installed on side mirror brackets, west-coast-style mirror mounts, bumper mounts, or bed stake pockets on trucks and pickups. Roof mounts are not recommended for a whip this size on most vehicles.
- The DRX-3402 mount uses a standard 3/8″-24 stud that accepts the Workman barrel spring, which in turn threads onto the IC56 whip. Spring goes between the mount stud and the whip — not directly between the whip and the mount body.
- Run the DRX-1518 coax from the mount to the radio, keeping it away from moving parts and pinch points. Loop excess coax loosely — don't coil it tightly.
- After installation, SWR should be checked and set with a meter or the 29 LX's Radio Check self-test. The system is broadband — SWR is typically low across all 40 channels without needing to trim the whip, but every install is different.
- For maximum-performance install and bench work, add the Pro tune and alignment service at checkout.
Shipping
Items in this bundle ship in two separate packages and may arrive on different days. The 102-inch whip is oversized and can only be shipped via USPS — please allow an additional 10 to 14 days for delivery of the whip. All other items ship on the standard timeline.
Compatibility
- The IC56 uses a standard 3/8″-24 base that fits any 3/8″-24 mount, including the included DRX-3402 stud (through the Workman barrel spring)
- The 29 LX's SO-239 accepts the DRX-1518's PL-259 directly — no adapter
- Related install path: pair with the DRX-6560 noise-cancelling microphone for a complete truck audio + antenna upgrade
Cobra 29 LX Hustler 102″ Whip Bundle — Frequently Asked Questions
What's in this bundle?
Cobra 29 LX AM/FM CB radio (with factory mic, power cord, mounting bracket, and mic clip), Hustler IC56 102″ stainless steel whip, DRX-3402 Magnum heavy-duty mirror mount, Workman KA52 super heavy-duty chrome barrel spring, and 18 feet of DRX-1518 M213 premium coax with preterminated PL-259 connectors.
Do I save money buying the bundle?
Yes. The bundle is priced at approximately 5% below the total of the five components bought separately.
Why do I need a barrel spring with a 102″ whip?
A 102″ whip flexes a lot at highway speeds and in wind. Without a spring, that flex load transfers directly to the mount base and to the whip's threaded shoulder — the two places where whips and mounts fail. The Workman KA52 chrome barrel spring absorbs the flex so the mount and whip base don't take the stress.
Where does the spring go?
Between the mount stud and the whip. Thread the barrel spring onto the DRX-3402's 3/8″-24 stud first, then thread the IC56 whip onto the top of the spring. This puts the spring at the antenna base where the flex load is highest.
Do I need to tune a 102″ whip?
Usually not. A properly grounded 102″ whip is naturally broadband across all 40 CB channels and typically shows low SWR without adjustment. SWR should still be checked with an in-line meter or the 29 LX's Radio Check self-test after install. If SWR is high, the most common cause is a poor ground at the mount — not the whip length.
Can I install this on a roof or a bed rail?
Bed rails, bed stake pockets, and mirror brackets work well for 102″ whips. Roof mounts are not recommended on most vehicles because the whip is taller than most parking-garage clearances and puts a lot of leverage on the roof sheet metal.
What ships separately?
The 102″ Hustler IC56 whip is oversized and ships separately via USPS. Please allow an additional 10 to 14 days for the whip to arrive. All other items in the bundle ship on the standard timeline.
Is this the same coax used on the SR-A10 truck combo?
Yes. The DRX-1518 18-foot M213 coax is the same premium coax used in the Cobra 29 LX + SR-A10 truck install combo. The difference between the two combos is the antenna choice — SR-A10 4-foot fiberglass with a tunable tip versus the traditional 102″ stainless whip.
Can I upgrade the microphone later?
Yes. The Cobra 29 LX's front-panel 4-pin jack accepts any Cobra-pinout replacement mic — including the DRX-6560 noise-cancelling dynamic mic. It's a plug-and-play swap.
