Mirage MX36HP3 Compact AM 10-Meter Radio
Compact AM operation with hands-on audio controls
The Mirage MX36HP3 is an AM 10-meter amateur mobile radio with a front four-pin microphone connection, variable RF power, adjustable echo and talkback. Its compact chassis gives you a smaller installation footprint while retaining dedicated controls for microphone gain, RF gain, squelch and receiver noise filtering.
Use the MX36HP3 for licensed amateur operation with the appropriate privileges for your operating frequency and mode. It is not a license-free CB radio.
MX36HP3 features
- AM operation: a 10-meter amateur transceiver with PLL frequency control.
- Variable RF power: adjust transmitter output with a dedicated front-panel control.
- Echo and time controls: adjust the echo effect and its timing independently.
- Talkback with off position: monitor your microphone audio through the radio.
- RF gain and microphone gain: separate controls for receiver sensitivity and microphone audio level.
- NB/ANL filtering: a noise blanker and automatic noise limiter help reduce impulse noise in received audio.
- S/RF/SWR meter: monitor received signal strength, relative transmitter output and antenna-system SWR.
- Antenna warning indicator: alerts you to a condition that calls for checking the antenna installation.
- Three-position dimmer: adjust the display and meter illumination.
- External connections: separate external-speaker and PA-speaker jacks, plus a frequency-counter connection.

Measure your mounting opening before ordering. Allow additional room for the bracket, control knobs, microphone plug, rear connections and cable bends; chassis dimensions alone do not establish vehicle fit.
Included equipment and installation
The radio includes its supplied noise-cancelling dynamic microphone, power cord, mounting bracket and microphone mounting hardware. An antenna, antenna mount, coax cable and external speaker are not included with the radio-only listing.
Use a suitable fused power connection and a matched antenna system for your operating frequency. Check SWR after the antenna is installed, and correct antenna or coax problems before transmitting. The built-in SWR meter helps you check the installation; it does not tune the antenna automatically.
A standard CB external speaker connects to the EXT. SP. jack. Connecting it disconnects the internal speaker. The separate PA function requires a suitable PA speaker, sold separately.
Don't forget to add the Pro tune and alignment option at checkout so that your radio is professionally bench-tuned for best performance per the manufacturer's service manual.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Mirage MX36HP3 a license-free CB radio?
No. It is a 10-meter amateur radio, not a license-free CB transceiver. Transmitting requires the appropriate amateur-radio privileges for the frequency and mode used.
Does the MX36HP3 have FM or single sideband?
No. The MX36HP3 operates on AM. It also has a PA function for use with a separate PA speaker.
What are the MX36HP3 chassis dimensions?
The owner's manual lists 7-3/8 inches wide, 8-3/4 inches deep and 2-1/4 inches high. Allow extra clearance for the mounting bracket, knobs, plugs and cables.
Will it fit every semi-truck radio cubby?
No universal fit is guaranteed. Measure the opening, mounting points and rear clearance against the radio's dimensions before choosing an installation location.
Does the MX36HP3 have a built-in SWR meter?
Yes. Its S/RF/SWR meter includes an SWR function. You still need to check the installed antenna system and adjust the antenna as required.
Can I use the Driver Extreme DRX-6560 microphone?
Yes. The DRX-6560 uses the standard four-pin wiring that matches the MX36HP3: ground, audio, transmit and receive. No wiring adapter is needed for this pairing.
Does the radio include an antenna?
No. The radio-only package includes the supplied microphone, power cord, radio bracket and microphone mounting hardware. Choose an antenna system separately or select the linked truck-install combo.
What do the noise blanker and automatic noise limiter do?
They help reduce impulse noise in received audio, such as some vehicle electrical interference. They are not digital transmit noise-reduction controls and do not eliminate every noise source.
Can I connect an external speaker?
Yes. Connect a standard CB external speaker to the EXT. SP. jack. The radio's internal speaker is disconnected when an external speaker is plugged in.
