Why this combo
A 102" stainless whip is still the reference standard for CB antennas β full quarter-wave length on 27 MHz, no loading coil, and excellent broadband SWR when properly mounted and grounded. The Magnum mirror mount and heavy-duty barrel spring are built to hold that much whip on a moving vehicle without cracking mirrors, tearing brackets, or breaking off. Add the M213 coax and you have a complete install kit that only needs a chassis ground and a power connection to be on the air.
Compatibility & install notes
- 102" whips are typically installed on side mirrors, bumper mounts, or bed stake pockets on trucks and pickups. Roof mounts are not recommended for a whip this size on most vehicles.
- The DRX-3402 mount uses a standard 3/8"-24 stud that accepts the IC56 whip directly.
- After installation, SWR should be checked and set with a meter. The system is broadband β SWR is typically low across all 40 channels without needing to trim the whip, but every install is different.
- Don't forget to add the Pro tune and alignment option at checkout so that your radio is professionally bench-tuned for best performance per the manufacturer's service manual.

The 102" whip remains the reference standard for CB antenna performance on trucks and larger vehicles that can accommodate the height.
Where can a 102-inch whip be mounted?
The DRX-3402 Magnum mirror mount is designed to attach to side-mirror brackets or similar heavy-duty brackets on trucks and pickups. Bumper mounts and bed stake-pocket mounts are also common. Roof mounts are not recommended for a whip this size on most vehicles due to overhead clearance and stress on the roof panel.
Does the BC-980 need tuning after installation?
The BC-980 ships tuned to Uniden's factory specifications. After the antenna is installed and grounded, SWR should be measured with an SWR meter to make sure the antenna is a good match. If you want the radio itself tuned to the manufacturer's service manual specs before installation, add the Pro tune and alignment option at checkout.
How does the 102-inch whip ship?
102-inch whip antennas are oversized items and can only be shipped via USPS. The whip ships separately from the rest of the kit and typically takes 10 to 14 additional days for delivery. The BC-980, mount, spring, and coax ship on the standard timeline.
Can I use a different microphone with the BC-980?
