A ready-to-install full-height mobile CB combo built around a proper quarter-wave stainless whip. This bundle pairs the Texas Ranger TRE Top One AM/SSB CB radio with a Hustler IC56 102″ stainless steel whip and a complete installation kit — 18′ RG8X coax with PL-259 ends, a universal aluminum mount and stud, a 5″ pot-belly barrel spring, and a tie-down — everything needed to put a resonant full-size CB antenna on the vehicle.

A 102″ stainless whip is the reference-standard mobile CB antenna: it's very close to a physical ¼ wave at 27 MHz with no loading coil to introduce loss, so it delivers the efficiency and receive quiet you can't get out of a shorter loaded whip. Paired with the Top One's 4 W AM / 12 W PEP SSB output and a properly tuned mount, this setup is what serious over-the-road drivers run when talking range matters more than a low-profile antenna.

Hustler IC56 102″ Stainless Steel Whip

• 102″ (8.5 ft) tapered stainless steel CB radio whip

• 3/8″ × 24 standard base thread — fits every common mount and spring

Install and tuning

SWR should be verified at antenna installation. A 102″ whip is highly sensitive to mount location and ground plane — a bed-rail mount over a flat metal truck bed gets you closer to a factory-clean 1.1:1 SWR than a mirror-bracket install on a plastic-heavy panel. Once mounted, check SWR across channels 1, 20, and 40 with an inline meter or antenna analyzer. If the low end is high and the high end is low, the whip is too long — trim in ¼″ increments. If the pattern is reversed, the whip is too short (uncommon with a fresh 102″).

Use the barrel spring at the base to protect the whip from parking-garage and low-clearance strikes, and set the tie-down at 60° or shallower so the whip drops back to vertical after a wind gust or a hard highway crosswind. Route the RG8X away from ignition wiring and alternator leads.

Licensing

CB radio operation in the United States falls under FCC Part 95 rules and does not require a license. All 40 channels of the Top One operate at the FCC-legal 4 W AM / 12 W PEP SSB power levels this radio is rated for. See the FCC personal radio services page for current CB rules.

CB Radio Supply does not offer an in-house warranty on the TRE Top One, and all Top One sales are final.
