Why the audio combo works

Two of the most common upgrades operators make on any 10-meter mobile are (1) getting the audio off the top of the radio so voice comes out clearly on-axis, and (2) swapping the stock hand mic for a dynamic noise-cancelling element. The DRX-9010 handles the first — its wedge shape and 150 Hz – 6 kHz voice-tuned response pull the received audio out of a noisy cab or shack. The DRX-6560 handles the second — a dynamic capsule with acoustic tuning for natural speech, no batteries, and the correct 4-pin wiring for the MX-36HP6's front-panel jack. Both are on the same order, both ship together.

Does the DRX-6560 mic work with the Mirage MX-36HP6?

Yes. The DRX-6560 is 4-pin wired for the same jack the MX-36HP6 uses on its front panel. No adapter needed.

Is this combo cheaper than buying the pieces separately?

Yes. This bundle is priced roughly 5% below the sum of the three components at their individual retail prices.

Do I need an amateur radio license to use this radio?

Yes for transmit. The MX-36HP6 operates on the 10 meter amateur band and requires at least an FCC Technician-class license for on-air transmit use. Receive-only monitoring does not require a license.

Can I use the DRX-9010 speaker with other radios later?

Yes. The DRX-9010 uses a standard 3.5 mm plug and works with virtually any CB or amateur mobile radio that has an external speaker jack.

Will this combo fit a Peterbilt / Kenworth / Freightliner cab?

Yes. The MX-36HP6 uses a Cobra 29–size chassis and drops into the standard overhead and dash cubbies on Peterbilt, Kenworth, Freightliner, Volvo, Mack, and International tractors. The DRX-9010 mounts nearly anywhere convenient with the included bracket.

Does the MX-36HP6 have SSB?

No. The Mirage MX-36HP6 is AM only. If you need SSB, look at the Stryker SR-655HPC+ or SR-955HPC+.

What's included in the box?

All three products in their original packaging: the MX-36HP6 radio (with SRA-198 mic, power cord, bracket, hardware), the DRX-9010 external speaker with cord and bracket, and the DRX-6560 microphone.

Do you offer Pro Tune on the MX-36HP6?

Same accessories (DRX-9010 + DRX-6560), different radio. The MX-36HP6 is AM-only and 60W; the SR-655HPC+ is AM/FM/SSB. If you want more modes and modern features, choose the SR-655HPC+ combo. If you want a simple, reliable AM 10 meter radio at a lower price point, the MX-36HP6 combo is the pick.
