This Mirage MX36HP3 truck-install combo brings together the AM 10-meter amateur radio, a Stryker SR-A10 antenna, Driver Extreme DRX-3402 heavy-duty mirror mount and DRX-1518 18-foot coax. It is intended for installations with a suitable mounting structure and a properly grounded antenna mount.

What is included

Radio controls and dimensions

The MX36HP3 includes variable RF power, microphone gain, RF gain, NB/ANL receiver filtering, echo/time controls and talkback. Its front four-pin microphone connection keeps the microphone plug accessible, while the S/RF/SWR meter provides signal, relative output and SWR indications.

The manufacturer's chassis dimensions are 7-3/8 inches wide × 8-3/4 inches deep × 2-1/4 inches high. Allow additional room for the bracket, controls and cables. The radio uses 13.8V DC with negative ground; do not connect it directly to a 24V vehicle electrical system.

This is an AM 10-meter amateur-radio package. It is not a license-free CB radio package, and transmitting requires the appropriate amateur-radio privileges for the operating frequency and mode.

Antenna and mount setup

The SR-A10's threaded antenna connection pairs with the DRX-3402 mount, and the DRX-1518 connects the mount's coax socket to the radio's SO-239 antenna socket. The mount must have a suitable electrical ground connection to the vehicle; this is not a no-ground-plane antenna system.

Confirm that the mounting surface can support the antenna and that the antenna has adequate overhead clearance. Route the coax away from sharp edges, moving parts and pinch points. The included cable is 18 feet long, so measure the proposed route rather than assuming it will suit every cab.

Tune the installed antenna for your authorized operating frequency and check SWR before regular use. A radio bench alignment does not replace antenna adjustment on the vehicle.

Included microphone and optional audio

The radio's supplied microphone is included. This truck-install combo does not add the DRX-9010 speaker or DRX-6560 microphone; choose the MX36HP3 audio combo for those accessories.
