License and installation notes
No FCC license is required to operate a CB radio in the United States. The George FCC is Part 95 certified for the 11-meter Citizens Band and is legal to install in any personal vehicle, work truck, or base station.
The Virginia is a magnet-mount ¼-wave, so it needs a steel mounting surface (roof, hood, or trunk lid on most vehicles). It's not the right choice for full-fiberglass hoods, aluminum-body trucks, or campers without a designated steel mounting point — for those, look at a hard-mount antenna like the Stryker SR-A10 on a DRX-3402 mirror mount.
SWR is verified at antenna install on your vehicle — not on the radio bench. Even a pre-tuned antenna needs to be measured once it's on your specific vehicle, and adjusted if needed.

Yes. The Virginia ships pre-tuned to 1.1:1 as a benchmark, but the SWR you actually run depends on the mounting surface and location on your vehicle. Verify SWR at antenna install and adjust the whip if needed.
Will the Virginia work on my full-fiberglass hood / aluminum truck?
No — the Virginia is magnet-mount and needs a steel surface. For fiberglass, aluminum, or camper bodies, switch to a hard-mount setup like a Stryker SR-A10 on a DRX-3402 mirror mount.
Why an external speaker if the George has an internal speaker?
The George's internal speaker fires downward and rearward, which sounds fine on the bench but can get muffled in a truck cab once the radio is mounted under the dash.
