SuperStar SS-399 + Stryker SR-A10 Antenna + DRX-3402 Heavy-Duty Mirror Mount + DRX-1518 18-Foot Premium M213 Coax Truck Install Combo

What's in this combo: SuperStar SS-399 Compact 10 Meter Mobile Radio + Stryker SR-A10 49″ Trucker Antenna + DRX-3402 Magnum Double-Slotted Heavy-Duty Mirror Mount + DRX-1518 18-Foot Premium M213 Coax Cable. A complete first-time truck antenna install kit around the compact SS-399 — everything you need to mount, tune, and run the radio in a semi cab, pickup, or heavy-duty work truck.

Who this combo is for

This combo is built for owner-operators, fleet drivers, and DIY installers who want the SS-399's compact, easy-to-fit chassis paired with a real trucker antenna and durable install hardware — without piecing four items together from four different vendors. The Stryker SR-A10 (“Thunderbolt II”) is a 49-inch, 1000-watt-handling trucker antenna broadband-tuned for both CB and 10-meter, so it works with this SS-399 today and any future 11-meter or 10-meter radio you upgrade to. The DRX-3402 heavy-duty double-slotted mirror mount fits nearly every semi west-coast mirror bracket, and the DRX-1518 delivers 18 feet of premium M213 mini-8 coax with soldered PL-259 connectors on both ends.

Why we picked these four products

  • The SuperStar SS-399 is the smallest AM/FM 10 meter mobile in the SuperStar line — 7" x 4.76" x 1.5" slim chassis, 8 W RMS carrier / 20 W PEP, switchable echo, variable RF gain and squelch, MOSFET finals with a large heatsink, Ranger bands C, D, and E, and a factory cigarette-lighter power cord so you can install it hard-wired or in an accessory-socket install.
  • The Stryker SR-A10 “Thunderbolt II” is the antenna truckers keep coming back to. 49-inch fiberglass shaft with stainless base and whip, 1,000-watt power handling, broadband tuning across CB (26.965–27.405 MHz) and 10-meter (28–29.7 MHz), and a 2-year warranty from Stryker.
  • The DRX-3402 Magnum mirror mount is a double-slotted, heavy-duty stainless steel mirror mount purpose-built for semi truck west-coast mirror brackets. The double-slot design accommodates a wide range of bracket widths without shims.
  • The DRX-1518 18-foot M213 coax is premium M213 mini-8 coaxial cable — heavier-duty than the RG-8X most starter kits ship with, and pre-terminated with soldered PL-259 connectors on both ends. 18 feet is the right length for a mirror-to-cab run in almost any semi cab configuration.

Buying these four separately means picking through spec sheets to match antenna handling to coax loss, verifying the mirror mount fits your bracket width, and confirming coax length reaches from your mirror to your cab. We've done that work.

What's included

Component Part Number What It Does
10 meter mobile radio SuperStar SS-399 AM/FM · 8 W RMS / 20 W PEP · echo · slim 7" chassis · 12–24 V DC via cig-lighter cord
Trucker CB antenna Stryker SR-A10 49″ fiberglass/stainless CB/10m antenna, 1,000 W handling, 2-year warranty
Heavy-duty mirror mount DRX-3402 Double-slotted stainless mirror mount for west-coast mirror brackets
Premium coax cable DRX-1518 18 ft. premium M213 mini-8 coax with soldered PL-259 connectors

Also included: SS-399 ships with its stock SRA-198NC 4-pin noise-cancelling hand mic, cigarette-lighter power cord, mounting bracket and hardware. SR-A10 ships with its whip and base assembly. DRX-3402 ships with mounting hardware. DRX-1518 is pre-terminated with PL-259 connectors on both ends.

Installation overview

  1. Mount the DRX-3402 mirror mount to your driver-side or passenger-side west-coast mirror bracket using the included stainless hardware.
  2. Thread the Stryker SR-A10 base onto the mirror mount's SO-239 stud. Confirm it's tight and grounded to the mirror bracket.
  3. Route the DRX-1518 coax from the antenna base down through the cab door seal (or through an existing grommet) to the radio location. Avoid running coax parallel to power wiring where possible.
  4. Connect the coax to the antenna base and to the SS-399's SO-239 rear connector.
  5. Wire the SS-399 using the included cigarette-lighter cord to a switched 12 V accessory socket, or hard-wire it to switched 12 V and ground with an appropriate inline fuse.
  6. Tune the antenna. The SS-399 does not include a built-in SWR meter, so you'll need an inline SWR meter to check standing wave ratio. Set the radio to channel 20, key up briefly, and read SWR. If it's above 1.5:1, adjust the SR-A10 tip in small increments and recheck.

SR-A10 tuning is straightforward but critical: an untuned antenna wastes transmit power and can eventually damage the radio's finals. If you'd rather leave the tuning to us, add the Pro tune and alignment option at checkout — your SS-399 will arrive bench-tuned per the manufacturer's service manual.

Available upgrades and options

  • Pro Tune & Alignment. Don't forget to add the Pro tune and alignment option at checkout so that your radio is professionally bench-tuned for best performance per the manufacturer's service manual.

Frequently asked questions

What's included in this SS-399 truck install combo?
Four products: the SuperStar SS-399 10 meter mobile radio, the Stryker SR-A10 49″ trucker antenna, the DRX-3402 heavy-duty double-slotted mirror mount, and the DRX-1518 18-foot premium M213 mini-8 coax cable. Radio ships with its stock SRA-198NC 4-pin noise-cancelling mic, cigarette-lighter power cord, and mounting bracket. Coax is pre-terminated with PL-259 connectors on both ends.

Does the SS-399 have a built-in SWR meter?
No — the SS-399 does not include an on-board SWR meter, so you'll need an inline SWR/power meter for antenna tuning. If you'd rather have the antenna and radio pre-tuned as a system, add the Pro tune and alignment option at checkout.

Will the DRX-3402 mirror mount fit my truck?
The DRX-3402 is a double-slotted heavy-duty mirror mount designed for standard semi truck west-coast mirror brackets — it fits nearly every Peterbilt, Kenworth, Freightliner, Volvo, Mack, and International cab out of the box. The double-slot design accommodates a wide range of bracket widths without shims. If you have an unusual bracket configuration, contact us before ordering.

Is 18 feet of coax enough for my truck?
For almost all semi cabs, yes. 18 feet is enough to route from either west-coast mirror down through the door seal or firewall grommet and reach a radio mounted in the overhead cubby, dash cubby, or console. Pickups and work vans have shorter runs, so 18 feet leaves plenty of length to coil and dress the excess. If you need a longer run for an unusual routing path, contact us before ordering.

Why the DRX-1518 M213 coax instead of RG-8X?
M213 mini-8 coax is heavier-duty than RG-8X, with lower loss at 27 MHz — more of your transmit power reaches the antenna and more receive signal reaches the radio. The soldered PL-259 connectors on the DRX-1518 are also more reliable than crimped connectors under vibration.

Does the Stryker SR-A10 work for CB as well as 10-meter?
Yes. The SR-A10 is broadband-tuned for both the CB band (26.965–27.405 MHz) and the 10-meter amateur band (28–29.7 MHz). It works with the SS-399 on 10-meter, and it carries over to any CB radio you upgrade to later.

How do I power the SS-399 in this install?
The SS-399 ships with a factory cigarette-lighter power cord and runs on 12–24 V DC. You can plug it into an accessory socket for a quick setup, or hard-wire it to a switched 12 V feed with an inline fuse for a cleaner permanent install.

Do I need any tools not included in the combo?
Yes. You'll need basic hand tools: an open-end wrench for the antenna base, a Phillips screwdriver for the mirror-mount hardware, wire strippers if you're hard-wiring the radio, and electrical tape or coax weatherproofing tape for the antenna base junction. An inline SWR meter is required to tune the antenna unless you order the Pro Tune option.

Does this combo ship free?
Yes. This combo ships free to the United States lower 48 and DC. Free returns are not offered; see our return policy for details.
